Spending a day in Rome will be worth it after you see all the iconic and famous attractions in the city.
So, you’ve only got time to have one day in Rome and you’re undecided if it’s worth going. We always think it’s worth going anywhere, even if it’s for one day. You’ll be surprised with yourself by how much you do in a day, especially in Rome!
Here are a few places you can go visit while you’re exploring Rome for the day.
Colosseum
Being in Rome and not seeing the Colosseum just wouldn’t be right. You can buy tickets to see the inside of the Colosseum, or even see the outside of it is amazing. The Colosseum is a huge amphitheatre that once held around 70,000 people during gladiator fights.
Roman Forum
If you’re someone who wants to see a large area of ruins, exploring the Roman Forum will be for you! Years and years ago there were many important buildings at the Roman Forum from basilicas, temples, and the Arch of Titus.
Pantheon
The Pantheon is one of Rome’s most iconic buildings from its 16 pillars and magnificent dome inside. The outside of the Pantheon looks like an ancient Greek Temple while the inside has ancient Roman architecture.
Inside the Patheon is where some famous people are buried like Raphael (yep, the famous painter), King Umberto I and Queen Margherita of Savoy. The Margherita pizza got its name after Queen Margherita!
Trevi Fountain
Trevi Fountain is one of the most famous and beautiful fountains in the world. Trevi Fountain has detailed white travertine stone sculptures, making it an iconic fountain.
If you plan to visit Trevi Fountain, bring some spare coins with you. If you haven’t heard about the coin tradition already, you’re missing out! Face your back to the fountain and throw the coin with your right hand over your left shoulder.
Vatican City
Inside Rome lies Vatican City, the smallest city in the world. You can do a quick visit here to see St. Peter’s Square and St. Peter’s Basilica from the outside.
Or if you’re into galleries, check out the inside of the basilica, and the Vatican Museums. Inside there are paintings by Raphael, Michelangelo, and Bernini to name a few famous painters.
